This product contains 2 medications, budesonide and formoterol. It is an inhaler used as a long-term (maintenance) treatment to prevent or decrease wheezing and trouble breathing caused by asthma. It works in the airways by decreasing swelling and relaxing muscles. Controlling symptoms of breathing problems can decrease time lost from work or school.This product should not be used to treat sudden attacks of breathing trouble. Your doctor should prescribe a quick-relief inhaler (e.g., albuterol/salbutamol) for sudden shortness of breath/asthma attacks while you are using this medication. You should always have a quick-relief inhaler with you. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.In patients with asthma, this medication should not be used when breathing problems can be controlled with inhaled corticosteroids (e.g., flunisolide, fluticasone) and occasional use of quick-relief inhalers. Continue to follow your doctor's instructions on taking the corticosteroids by mouth.How to use Symbicort InhlRead the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start using this medication and each time you get a refill. Refer to the illustrated directions provided by the manufacturer for directions on how to use this inhaler. If any of the information is unclear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.Before each dose, shake the inhaler well for 5 seconds. Inhale this medication by mouth, usually twice daily or as directed by your doctor. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Use this medication regularly to receive the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same times each day. The manufacturer recommends that adults and children older than 11 years should not use more than 4 inhalations daily. Do not use this medication more frequently or use more inhalations than prescribed. Doing so may increase the risk of side effects.Gargle and rinse your mouth with water after using this medication to help prevent dryness and mouth infections (e.g., thrush) and relieve throat irritation. Do not swallow the rinse water.To clean your inhaler, wipe the outside of the mouthpiece once a week with a dry tissue. Do not use water or other liquids. Do not take the inhaler apart.Do not stop using this medication or change your dose without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the drug is suddenly stopped. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.If you have been using a quick-relief inhaler (e.g., albuterol/salbutamol) on a regular daily schedule (such as 4 times daily), you must stop this schedule and only use the quick-relief inhaler as needed for sudden shortness of breath/asthma attacks. Consult your doctor for details.If this medication stops working well, or if you need to use your quick-relief inhaler more often than usual (4 or more puffs daily or use of more than 1 inhaler every 8 weeks), seek immediate medical attention. It may be a sign of worsening asthma, which is a serious condition.It may take 1 week or longer before you get the full benefit of this drug. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Lidocaine and prilocaine work by temporarily blocking this pathway of pain signals along nerves. They do this by stopping the sodium entering the nerve ending at the site of the pain. Each pack contains two types of tablets. The white tablets contain estradiol valerate and the pale brown tablets contain estradiol valerate in combination with norgestrel. Estradiol valerate (previously spelt oestradiol valerate in the UK) and norgestrel are forms of the main female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. Estradiol valerate is a naturally occuring form of oestrogen and norgestrel is a synthetic form of progesterone.WomensÆ ovaries gradually produce less and less oestrogen in the period up to the menopause, and oestrogen blood levels decline as a result. The declining levels of oestrogen can cause distressing symptoms, such as irregular periods, hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings and vaginal dryness or itching.Oestrogen (in this case in the form of estradiol valerate) can be given as a supplement to replace the falling levels in the body and help reduce these distressing symptoms of the menopause. This is known as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). HRT is usually only required for short-term relief from menopausal symptoms and its use should be reviewed at least once a year with your doctorA progestogen (in this case in the form of norgestrel) is needed as part of HRT for women who have not had a hysterectomy. This is because in women with an intact womb, oestrogen stimulates the growth of the womb lining (endometrium), which can lead to endometrial cancer if the growth is unopposed. A progestogen is given to oppose oestrogen's effect on the womb lining and reduce the risk of endometrial cancer, though it does not eliminate this risk entirely. This is known as combined HRT. Cyclo-Progynova is a sequential form of combined HRT. This means that oestrogen is taken on a continuous basis and progesterone is added for a portion of each month. The white tablets taken in the first 11 days of each Cyclo-Progynova cycle contain only estradiol. The brown tablets taken in the next 10 days of each cycle contain both estradiol and norgestrel. After these 21 days you then have a seven day tablet-free break before the next cycle is started, rather like the combined contraceptive pill. This type of HRT is more suitable for women who are still having irregular periods, because it usually results in a monthly withdrawal bleed in the pill-free week. HRT is also sometimes used to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. The declining level of oestrogen at menopause can affect the bones, causing them to become thinner and more prone to breaking. Oestrogen supplements help prevent bone loss and fractures that may occur in women in the years after menopause. However, in December 2003, a review of the available evidence on the risks and benefits of HRT by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) in the UK, concluded that the risks of using HRT long-term to prevent osteoporosis in women aged over 50 years exceed the benefits. As a result, this medicine should not be used as a first-line option for preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis in women over 50. However, it may be used as a second-line option for women at high risk of fractures who cannot take other medicines that are licensed for preventing osteoporosis. Women considered to be at high risk of developing fractures following the menopause include those who have had an early menopause, those with a family history of osteoporosis, those who have had recent prolonged corticosteroid therapy (eg prednisolone), those with a small thin frame, and smokers. Celecoxib is in a class of NSAIDs called COX-2 inhibitors. It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain and inflammation.How should this medicine be used? Celecoxib comes as a capsule to take by mouth. It is usually taken once or twice a day. If you are taking up to 200 mg of celecoxib at a time, you may take the medication with or without food. Aceclofenac belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called cyclo-oxygenase. Cyclo-oxygenase is involved in the production of various chemicals in the body, some of which are known as prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced in response to injury or certain diseases and would otherwise go on to cause pain, swelling and inflammation. Arthritic conditions are one example of this. Aceclofenac is used to relieve pain and inflammation in arthritic conditions. Ovral tablets are a type of hormonal contraception commonly known as 'the pill' or combined oral contraceptive pill. Ovranette tablets contain two active ingredients, ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. These are synthetic versions of the naturally occurring female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. Ethinylestradiol (previously spelt ethinyloestradiol in the UK) is a synthetic version of oestrogen and levonorgestrel is a synthetic form of progesterone.Combined oral contraceptives like Ovranette work by over-riding the normal menstrual cycle. In a woman's normal menstrual cycle, levels of the sex hormones change throughout each month. The hormones cause an egg to be released from the ovaries (ovulation) and prepare the lining of the womb for a possible pregnancy. At the end of each cycle, if the egg has not been fertilised the levels of the hormones fall, causing the womb lining to be shed as a monthly period. The daily dose of hormones taken in the pill work mainly by tricking your body into thinking that ovulation has already happened. This prevents an egg from ripening and being released from the ovaries each month.The hormones also increase the thickness of the natural mucus at the neck of the womb, which makes it more difficult for sperm to cross from the vagina into the womb and reach an egg. They also change the quality of the womb lining (endometrium), making it less likely that a fertilised egg can implant there. Ovranette is a monophasic pill. This means that each tablet has the same dose of hormones in it. One tablet is taken every day for 21 days and you then have a seven day break from pill-taking. During your seven day break, the levels of the hormones in your blood drop, which results in a withdrawal bleed that is similar to your normal period. You start the next pack after the seven pill-free days are up, even if you are still bleeding. The tablets come in a calender pack marked with days of the week to help you remember to take a pill every day for three weeks, followed by a week off. You will still be protected against pregnancy in your pill-free week, provided you took all the pills correctly, you start the next packet on time and nothing else happened that could make the pill less effective (eg sickness, diarrhoea, or taking certain other medicines - see below). The contraceptive pill results in lighter, less painful and more regular menstrual bleeding. This means it is sometimes prescribed for women who have problems with particularly heavy, painful or irregular periods.
Treating type 2 diabetes. It is used along with diet and exercise. It may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines.Metformin/Pioglitazone is a biguanide and thiazolidinedione antidiabetic combination. It works by decreasing the amount of sugar the liver produces and the intestines absorb. It also helps to make your body more sensitive to the insulin that you naturally produce.Adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes who are already treated with pioglitazone plus metformin or whose diabetes is not adequately controlled with metformin alone, or for those patients who initially responded to pioglitazone alone and require additional glycemic control. Amitriptyline is used to treat symptoms of depression. Amitriptyline is in a class of medications called tricyclic antidepressants. It works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain that are needed to maintain mental balance.Amitriptyline comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken one to four times a day. Take amitriptyline at around the same time(s) every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take amitriptyline exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of amitriptyline and gradually increase your dose.It may take a few weeks or longer before you feel the full benefit of amitriptyline. Continue to take amitriptyline even if you feel well. Do not stop taking amitriptyline without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking amitriptyline, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, headache, and lack of energy. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.Amitriptyline is also sometimes used to treat eating disorders and post-herpetic neuralgia (the burning, stabbing pains, or aches that may last for months or years after a shingles infection). Talk to your doctor about the possible risks of using this medication for your condition.
